Buy the run, not the coil

Most hose is sold in fixed coils, so a 7 m job means buying 10 m and storing the rest. Everything in the catalogue is priced per metre and cut to the length you ask for, anywhere from 1 m to 50 m. You pay for the run you need.

How the price is worked out

Every hose carries a price per metre excluding VAT. The price of your order is that figure multiplied by the length. A hose at £1.50 per metre costs £7.50 for a 5 m run and £45.00 for 30 m — no cutting charge, no minimum beyond a single metre. Each length has its own page showing what is available at that run and what it comes to: 10 m, 20 m, 25 m, 50 m.

Carriage is priced on the metres, not the order value

Hose is bulky rather than heavy, so carriage here is worked out on the length in the basket rather than on what it costs. UK delivery starts at £5.28 and rises in bands as the run gets longer. Tax is not charged on delivery. It means a long run of cheap hose and a short run of expensive hose are charged for what they actually are — a parcel and a pallet-sized coil are not the same thing to a carrier.

What to measure before you order

  • The bore — the inside diameter, measured across the hole, not the outside of the hose. This is the number that has to match your fitting.
  • The run — follow the path the hose will actually take, round the bends, not the straight-line distance. Bends eat more length than people expect.
  • A margin — add a little for trimming and for the length that disappears inside the fittings at each end.
  • The clamps — one at each joint, sized to the outside diameter of the hose, not the bore. Worm-drive clamps run from 8 mm to 265 mm.

Cut lengths and dispatch

Stocked lines ordered before 14:00 on a working day are picked, packed and dispatched from the UK the same day. Cut lengths are prepared to order, so allow for the cutting when a run is long or unusual.

One thing worth knowing before you order: hose cut to your specification cannot be returned unless it is faulty. A coil can go back; a 17 m length cut for your job cannot be sold to anybody else. Our ordinary returns policy runs 30 days from delivery for unused goods in their original packaging.
